Meet the Founders

Nicole was introduced to the field in 2009 by a friend who would later become a mentor/employer.  Nicole quickly fell in love with the science and the therapeutic outcomes she witnessed in toddlers to adults.  She pursued her BCaBA in 2011 and then became a BCBA in 2014. Her strongest passions while practicing as a BCBA were to educate staff, work closely with parents to increase their child's independence, and find creative ways to teach skills in the natural environment.  It was crucial for her to pull from various resources to provide each child with a fun, playful, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. While working as a Behavior Analyst she was asked to become an Assistant Clinical Director.  She enjoyed the opportunity of working closely with her coworkers but felt that she was not making a big enough impact in the community being faced with employer restrictions.  Walking away from these restrictions, Nicole opened a company of her own and just a few short months later partnered with Diana Macchia where Collaborative Behavior Group was then established.

When starting her family and raising her children, Diana took a strong interest in the development of children-particularly, an emphasis on early childhood development.  This newfound passion led her to pursuing a Master's of Science in Childhood Education.    Shortly following her move from New York to Florida, she began working with the Early Steps of the Treasure Coast program as an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist.  She was introduced to the field of ABA by a coworker in 2012 who believed that by pursuing her certification as a BCBA; she would continue to drive her desire to serve and provide much needed support to more children and their families in the community.    Diana completed her ABA coursework and became certified as a BCBA in 2014.  Diana's passion for teaching and improving the quality of life of others is what drew her to the field.  She believed in the science and quickly noticed the positive therapeutic outcomes across different age groups that it had.  Her greatest focus while practicing as a BCBA is incorporating her work in early intervention, teaching children in a natural setting, teaching play, focusing on social emotional development, and emphasizing the importance of family involvement.  She loves bringing creative, fun, and playful ideas to a child's natural setting while providing engaging interventions to broaden skills while teaching children.    Her greatest aspiration is creating a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn skills that will improve their quality of life.
